Ancestors and Related Families by Carl B. Smith
These ancestors prompted by the desire of bettering their condition, left their old state to form settlements in the new. The Breazeals’ – Browns – Clarks – Hudsons – Joneses – Majors – Moores – Shirleys – Smiths – Terrells and other removed with their families from Virginia to other southern states. They descended from the most vigorous and industrious class of English, Irish, French and Scotch. They were political and economic leaders from the earliest Colonial days. How active they were in business, economical in their expenditures, honest in their business dealings and how they prospered beyond example.

Interesting, detailed history of Fortsonia from families whose ancestors founded the community. [Below: “treasures”, not “treasurers”]
